The company announced it would raise ticket prices for flights from Israel by a minimum of 4% starting January 1 to compensate for the weak dollar
El Al Israel Airlines said last Wednesday it would raise ticket prices for flights from Israel by a minimum of 4% starting January 1 to compensate for the weak dollar against the Israeli shekel.
The company explained the move noting that while El Al's tickets are priced in dollars, its costs are in Israeli shekels. It added that the dollar had weakened steadily against the shekel since August.
The shekel hit a 9 year peak of 3.83 per dollar on November 30th following a 12 percent rally over four months.
