The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) revealed last week that 465,000 tourists enteries were registered in Israel during the first three months of 2006, (25% more than in the parallel period of 2005)
In a detailed report dealing with tourist entries, the CBS noted that: 125,700 tourists came from the US, (38% more than during the parallel quarter of 2005). 237,000 tourists came from Europe, an increase of 17%. 52,000 tourists came from France, 26,000 from Germany, 16,000 from Russia, 11,000 from Poland. 40,000 tourists arrived from Asia, including 13,000 from South Korea, 4,349 from India, 3,478 from Japan, 1,950 from China, and 1,450 from Indonesia. 28,000 tourists came from Africa, including 21,000 from Nigeria, 3,209 from South Africa, and 600 from Morocco.
The number of tourists from Nordic countries rose by 49% to 14,846, and the number from Italy rose by 33% to 15,000. 3,159 tourists came from Australia.
