Israel's second largest airline will commence operation of schedule services to Cyprus & Ireland as from March 1st 2007
Following the announcement by El Al Israel Airlines Ltdthat, effectivefrom ThursdayMarch 1, it would cut flights to two of its closest neighbors - Turkey and Cyprus - the Transport Ministry granted Arkia Israeli Airlinesthe right to operate flights to these two destinations.
Arkia Israeli Airlines, Israel's second largest airline, operating mainly domestic services and charters to Western Europe and the Mediterranean, will commence operation of schedule services to Cyprus & Ireland as from March 1st 2007.
In a press release made a few weeks ago El Al Israel Airlines Ltdsaid the two routes, the Istanbul route, as well as flights to Larnaca, were not meeting criteria set in its businessrestructuringplan and that the move was part of its plan to focus on high-demand and profitable routes.
El Al presently flies three weekly flights to both Istanbul and Larnaca.
