Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport is resuming operations. This is due to the increase in passenger traffic at Ben Gurion and the return of international airlines to Israel. The terminal will reopen on the night between Saturday and Sunday (August 3), with the first departure expected to leave at 5:15 am on Sunday. As part of the reopening, all flights from Ben Gurion to Eilat will return to it, as well as some international flights. Initially, the Israeli companies El Al, Arkia, and Israir will operate from the terminal, and later in the month, with its expected return to operations in Israel, also Wizz Air. In September, additional international companies are expected to operate from the terminal.
According to the Israel Airports Authority, during August, about 800 flights and about 140,000 passengers are expected to pass through Terminal 1. With the reopening of the terminal, the duty-free shops, some of which have recently been expanded, as well as a new toy store, cafes, and restaurants, will also return to operation.
The Israel Airports Authority reported that today, Thursday, July 31, about 72,200 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion Airport on 430 international flights, incoming and outgoing. In total, about 37,800 passengers will depart today on international flights, and about 34,400 passengers will enter Israel.
