The governments of Israel and Argentina announced yesterday the opening of the first direct flight route between the two countries, a strategic move aimed at strengthening economic and diplomatic ties. The route, promoted in recent months by the Israeli Ministries of Finance and Transport, will be operated by El Al and is expected to serve as a significant logistical and tourism bridge between Israel and Latin American countries.

The move includes a budgetary support mechanism for operating the route, intended to ensure economic feasibility and establish regular aviation activity over time. For the business sector, the opening of the direct route is expected to significantly facilitate the movement of businesspeople, reduce travel times and logistical costs, and encourage mutual investments and technological and defense cooperation.

The Israeli Minister of Transport, Miri Regev, emphasized that maintaining open skies and creating transportation continuity to new continents are national missions in the current period. The Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, added that the route is part of a broad effort to strengthen Israel's strategic connections with friendly international markets, which constitute an essential infrastructure for growth and trade.

For El Al, this is a historic destination that expands the company's long-haul route network. El Al Chairman of the Board, Amikam Ben Zvi, noted that the company is proud to build the aviation infrastructure that connects Israel to distant destinations and that the move reflects the company's commitment to strengthening the country's connection with the world.

In the logistics and freight forwarding industry, experts estimate that beyond the benefits in the field of tourism, the direct route may improve the availability of belly cargo capacity on direct passenger flights to South America, which will assist exporters and importers operating in the Argentinian and regional markets.
