In light of the ongoing security situation in Israel following Operation 'Am Kalavi', the Ministry of Transport has announced that Israel's airspace will remain closed until further notice. Updates will be provided six hours before reopening.
The Ministry of Transport is working with the Foreign Ministry's Situation Room to gather data on the number of Israelis currently abroad, and is also working to establish aviation assembly points (hubs) from which flights to Israel will be operated once the airspace reopens. Israelis abroad are advised to contact the Foreign Ministry's Situation Room at 02-5303155.
The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) has clarified that it is working with Israeli airlines to bring Israelis back home. All air crews and aircraft are ready to operate as soon as possible. However, this may take a long time, depending on the security situation. The decision to resume flights to Israel will only be made when it can be done safely. There is no recommendation for Israelis abroad to arrive at Larnaca or Athens at this stage, with the thought of boarding a return flight from there. Even when the security system allows the resumption of flights, the pace of flights will be limited in order to minimize risks and ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft. Therefore, passengers are expected to wait for days until a return flight is actually possible.
In the meantime, the land border crossings to Jordan and Sinai are open for operation. The operating hours are as follows:
Begin Crossing to Sinai: Open 24/7.
Rabin Crossing to Jordan: 06:30-20:00. Passengers should arrive at the terminal by 19:30. Those crossing with a vehicle should arrive at the crossing by 19:00.
Jordan River Crossing: 08:30-18:00. Passengers should arrive at the terminal by 16:30.
Allenby Crossing, for foreigners and Palestinians only: 08:00-17:00.
El Al and Sundor have announced that Israel's airspace is still closed to takeoffs and landings of civilian flights. As a result, El Al and Sundor's flight schedule for this evening (Saturday, June 14) and tomorrow (Sunday, June 15) is cancelled. A message has been sent to customers.
El Al is preparing to gradually restore its flight schedule and add rescue flights as soon as possible to help as many Israelis as possible return home.
Israir has announced that all Israir flights from and to Israel, including flights from and to Eilat, are cancelled until Sunday, June 15. Passengers who made their reservation up to June 13, 2025 for flights until June 30, 2025 (inclusive) - can cancel the reservation and receive a credit voucher for future use. This policy will be updated as needed.
Arkia has announced that in addition to the cancellation of all the company's flights for Sunday, June 15, 2025 - all flights from/to Israel for Monday, June 16, 2025 are also cancelled. The company stated that it is "working in full coordination with the aviation authorities and the Home Front Command, and will continue to monitor developments and update the traveling public accordingly."
It should be noted that most of the Israeli airlines' aircraft have been evacuated from Ben Gurion Airport due to fears of an attack on the field and damage to the aircraft. The Israeli companies' aircraft are currently in Athens, Larnaca and a few other nearby destinations - not all of which have been disclosed.
Civilian Flights Suspended as Israel's Airspace Closes
Due to the ongoing security situation, Israel's airspace remains closed to civilian flights until further notice. Land border crossings to Jordan and Sinai remain open.
