American Airlines stops Philadelphia to Tel Aviv flights

The trip of 5,740 miles, the longest of American’s flights, will end January 4, 2016

The world’s largest airline carrier American Airlines Inc. announced on Aug. 20, that it will end its non-stop flights between the U.S. and Israel. The Philadelphia-to-Israel service will end January 4, 2016.

 

The trip of 5,740 miles was the longest of American’s flights. The route was serviced by a US Airways Airbus A330 aircraft, with seating for 252 passengers.

 

American Airlines inherited the route between Philadelphia International Airport and Tel Aviv when it acquired US Airways in December 2013.

 

American Airlines spokesperson noted that it was “strictly a financial decision,” and the “the route has not been profitable.”
