The Israeli Knesset (Parliament) passed last week the civil aviation authority law. The new law which was proposed by Minister of Transport Mr. Meir Sheetrit, went through its second and third readings.
According to the newly adopted law the present Israel Civil Aviation Authority will be replaced by a new Authority. The new law grants the new civil aviation authority much higher fees than those now paid, and more extensive powers of enforcement.
The new Authority will have the powers to establish arrangements for domestic and international flights, grant licenses and permits, and apply international treaties to which Israel is a party.
Minister of Transport Mr. Meir Sheetrit said after the Knesset's vote that the law was designed to allow the new civil aviation authority to work professionally and independently, with real budget sources".
