Fridenson Group reports the successful completion of a large-scale logistics project for the import and transport of exceptionally heavy cargo for Bazan Group in Haifa. The project, which included meticulous engineering planning over several months, began at the port of Thessaloniki in Greece and ended with precise unloading at the project site in Haifa Bay.

Three exceptional towers were moved as part of the operation, with full management of the entire supply chain: from departure from the port of origin, through maritime transport to complex terrestrial sinking. The cargo included two towers each about 45 meters long, and an especially exceptional tower about 60 meters long and over 7 meters in diameter. The total weight of the transport stood at over 380 tons.

Maritime transport and port coordination

The maritime transport was carried out using a dedicated ro-ro ship. Prior to sailing, comprehensive engineering checks were carried out, including planning, tying and anchoring the cargo, weight checks, and professional approvals. Before the cargo arrived at the port of Haifa, coordination was carried out with the operational entities in the port, including continuous strength checks, obstacle clearance, and special infrastructure preparation.

The terrestrial challenge: maneuvering in city streets

Upon unloading the cargo at the port of Haifa, it was loaded onto Fridenson Group's special equipment. The terrestrial transport was carried out using two modular trailers with hydraulic jacks, on which Turn Table devices were installed for performing complex maneuvers. The operation required special approvals from state authorities and the Israel Police, and included bridge checks and turning radius along the transport route in the city.

Upon arrival of the cargo at the project site, a special maneuver was carried out under a height obstacle using a mobile bridge crane with a lifting capacity of 400 tons and specialized teams of the group.

Tzachi Avniya, Head of the Projects Division at Fridenson Group: "On the day of execution, all the factors operated in full synchronization and tight management of the event from a dedicated command post. Despite challenges in maritime transport, the main challenge was the terrestrial transport route in Haifa - a short but very complex route both engineeringly and operationally."

Avniya thanked Bazan Haifa for the trust and choice to embark on a joint and long-term journey, and all the involved parties: Haifa Municipality, the Planning and Building Department, Haifa Port, Israel Police (Northern Traffic Police) for the safe escort, road closures and early preparation, and Castro Road Security Company for removing infrastructure and obstacles and restoring them to their original state.

"The combination of forces between the shipping divisions, customs brokerage, shipping agency, heavy transport, and storage of Fridenson Group, allows the creation of creative logistics solutions, high operational flexibility, and a comprehensive response to industrial customers, even in the most complex and challenging projects", he concluded.
