The global semiconductor industry is experiencing significant growth, with Israel becoming a central player in the field. After a 12% decline in 2023, the semiconductor market rebounded in 2024 with a 19.3% increase in sales. Forecasts indicate a continuation of this growth trend in 2025, with global sales expected to reach approximately $626.87 billion.

In Israel, the market is showing a positive trend, with the entry of global companies and the expansion of existing factories. "The thriving technological ecosystem, skilled workforce, and innovative environment have made Israel a strategic focus for the semiconductor industry," explains Adi Shashon, CEO and owner of Ariel International Shipping, in an interview with PORT2PORT.

Semiconductors are the cornerstone of every modern electronic device, but the transportation of their manufacturing and testing equipment presents a complex logistical challenge. Machines for manufacturing and testing chips, such as photolithography systems, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactors, metrology equipment, and process testing equipment, are advanced and vital in the semiconductor manufacturing process. They are particularly sensitive to physical damage, humidity, and temperature changes, requiring customized solutions for each stage of transport.

"Transporting such equipment requires precise planning, meticulous handling, and tailored insurance," Adi notes. "Our experience in shipping sensitive technological equipment allows us to provide optimal solutions, ensuring safe arrival and compliance with the strictest installation standards."

According to him, due to the complexity of the transportation, air freight has become the default option, although sometimes sea freight is used in combination with land transport. "We tailor the solution to each client, maintaining a balance between costs and delivery times."

When asked how they prevent damage, Adi replied that the equipment is packed in containers with unique materials for shock absorption, requiring transportation and storage within strict temperature and humidity ranges. Upon arrival, the machines are disassembled, reassembled, and precisely calibrated under the supervision of skilled technicians. "We accompany our clients from the packaging stage, through all stages of transport, to the final delivery at the client's site," Adi emphasizes.

Against the backdrop of increasing demand and the need for advanced logistical infrastructure, Adi concludes: "Smart air freight, precise handling, and flexible planning capability are the key to successful transportation of this sensitive equipment.
