ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (ZISS) has christened its new Korean-built 4255 TEU Container Vessel as "ZIM COLOMBO" and has deployed it into their East Mediterranean Express (EMX) Service, which touches Colombo on its west-bound and east-bound voyages. The naming ceremony was held at the state-owned Jaya Container Terminal in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The "Zim Colombo" will be deployed in Zim’s East Mediterranean Express (EMX) Service, taking the carrier’s total vessel deployment on the weekly service to 11.
In addition, to meet the changing needs of a dynamic market, ZISS continuously expands and diversifies their geographic coverage and is currently strengthening their presence in developing regions, with a focus on the Far East, Former Soviet Union regions,South America and Africa.
The expansion is part of the Israeli carrier’s “super-slow-steaming” strategy that is expected to yield substantial fuel savings.
The EMX port rotation is: Busan; Shanghai; Ningbo; Shenzhen-Da Chan Bay; Port Kelang, Malaysia; Colombo; Suez Canal; Haifa and Ashdod, Israel; Izmit, Turkey; Novorossiysk, Russia; Constanta, Romania; Ambarli, Turkey; Haifa, Suez Canal, Nhava Sheva, India; Colombo; Port Kelang; Shenzhen-Da Chan Bay; Xiamen; and back to Pusan, offering a 68-day round-trip voyage.
