Yang Ming will again provide direct calls to Israel

The company decided to provide more stable and reliable service quality to its Israeli customers and has added the port of Ashdod to its direct far east service
 
On December 13th 2006 M/V YM Ocean, voy.647W, will call the Israeli port of Ashdod after several years during which no Yang Ming ships called Israeli ports.
 
The company decided to provide more stable and reliable service quality to its Israeli customers and has added the port of Ashdod to its direct far east service running from Hong Kong and Singapore via Israel to Turkey and Greece.
 
M/V YM Ocean will depart Singapore on December 1st and is due in Israel 12 days later on December 13th . Messers Conmart, Yang Ming's port agents in Israel said that the ship will carry Ashdod bound containers only whereas Haifa bound containers will continue to be transshipped via Port Said.
 
Conmart added that the new weekly service(ADX NEW) will deploy 6 container vessels each with average capacity of 2000-2200 TEU. The new service will connect Ashdod directly to Hong Kong for Israeli bound cargo. The new service will also offer export service from Ashdod to the Turkish & Greek ports of Hidrepsh ( 2 days) Istanbul (3 days ) Saloniki ( 5 days ) and Izmir ( 6 days ). From Izmir the vessels will sail directly to Singapore – all in all 20 sailing days from Ashdod to the Far East.
 
At the end of 2006, Yang Ming operates a fleet of 81 vessels, (TEU 222,000 capacity) of which container ships are the mainstream service force. There are also bulk carriers and super tankers in operation. With a 3.5-million-D.W.T. tonnage, Yang Ming transports more than 2.3 million TEUS (Twenty feet Equivalent Units) of containers a year.
