The Haifa port workers committee agreed to take no industrial action before the end of December 2007
Following a hearing at the Haifa District Labor Court to resume negotiations with the port management, the Haifa port workers committee agreed to take no industrial action before the end of December 2007.
Two weeks ago the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) informed the Haifa port management that a labor dispute had been declared at the port.
In a statement issued by the port authorities following the Histadrut's announcement it was noted that if an agreement cannot be reached, a strike would be staged at the port from 29 November 2007.
The Haifa port management also noted in a written statement that the dispute declaration, the disruptions and sanction utterly contravene the Haifa Port workers committee’s commitments to preserve industrial quiet under the ports reform agreement.
Strike threat at the port of Haifa has been averted until the end of 2007
