For the first time yesterday, a cargo ship docked at Haifa Port as part of the new maritime alliance of Maersk and Hapag Lloyd - the Gemini Alliance. As part of the alliance, the Seaspan Lumaco ship docked at Haifa Port for the first time yesterday, as part of a new shuttle line that exclusively visits Haifa Port in Israel and also visits Port Said in Egypt.

The container ship, built in 2009, is 261 meters long and can carry about 5,000 containers, and as far as is known, ships of a similar volume will operate as part of this shuttle.

It should be noted that a similar shuttle line will begin operating as part of the Gemini Alliance between Ashdod Port and Port Said, starting next week.

We remind that the Gemini Alliance came into operation in February this year when Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd launched the Gemini Cooperation partnership. This new partnership aims to provide 90% reliability in meeting schedules while using a network of hub ports and attractive sailing routes. The new network will operate about 340 ships and offer 57 services, including 29 main transport routes and 28 intra-regional transport routes. With a total capacity of 3.7 million TEU, the network will focus on trade between East and West.
