The 2,402-passenger "Norwegian Jade" cancelled the visit because of the IDF's operation in the Gaza Strip
The 93,500-ton, 2,402-passenger vessel and 1,100 crew, "Norwegian Jade" had to cancel its port of Ashdod visit last week due to Operation "Pillar of Defense", a military operation launched in Gaza by the Israeli Defense Forces.
The IDF hit more than several hundred targets in the Gaza Strip, including rocket warehouses and rocket-launching facilities. The vessel was at Haifa port when the fighting began and its owners decided to extend the Haifa visit for two days instead of one.
Commercial port activities at Ashdod, located 38 KM (23 miles) north of Gaza Strip has not been affected by operation "Pillar of Defense".
All cargo vessels which were due to call at the port arrived and carried out normal port operations.
The Norwegian Jade, is one of six ships of a similar designs built for NCL since 2001, which are specifically designed for their ‘freestyle dining’ concept.
