Following the labor dispute declared about a week ago at ZIM over alleged lack of transparency regarding the company's future and its acquisition process, a labor dispute was announced today among the Maritime Officers Association, the central administration of the Maritime Officers Association. The Maritime Officers Association employs about 60 workers responsible for directing ships into port docks. The cessation of their work essentially means the cessation of the activity of Israeli ports.

The Maritime Officers Association thus joins the labor dispute declared by the Histadrut at ZIM. The reason for the dispute at ZIM is, according to the workers, a lack of transparency regarding the future of the company, which has been without a controlling core for several months, and against the backdrop of receiving several acquisition offers. The workers emphasize that they oppose the transfer of control of the Israeli shipping company to foreign hands, and claim that they have no certainty about their professional future if and when the company is sold to a foreign entity.

The labor dispute includes about 750 company employees, who can take organizational steps starting from January 9. As mentioned, the labor dispute at the Maritime Officers Association includes about 60 workers who can take organizational steps starting from January 16.
