The 5,5'' TEU vessel serves the weekly Asia-Black Sea Express Service
"MOL Performance", a 5,500 TEU container ship registered in Panama and owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), called last week at Ashdod Port. The Ashdod port calling was the first MOL vessel under the G6 alliance agreement.
The G6 Alliance agreement include: APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, MOL, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).
The vessel serves the weekly Asia-Black Sea Express Service (ABX) operated by nine container vessels, three of which owned by MOL, four by OCCL and two by APL. The service is available from the Far East, en route to the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
Shuki Sagis, general Manager of the Ashdod port, said at the reception ceremony for the "MOL Performance" docking: "The Ashdod Port Company has targeted the arrival of and expansion of container ship lines from all parts of the world. Our cooperation with the G6 Alliance that has not, up to now, operated in Israel, is another operational achievement for the company. This line will increase the competition, both in the Black Sea and the Far East".
Gal Toren, CEO of Lucy Borchard Shipping, the represents MOL in Israel, said that the new service at Ashdod Port proves the outstanding importance that MOL attached to the Israeli market.
