The workers protest against ministerial decision over the planned reforms of the ports. As of last Thursday 15 vessels were waiting outside the port
Ashdod port's workers launched an unofficial go slow action last week protesting against ministerial decision over the planned reforms of the ports. The action cut productivity to 50 percent of normal, forcing other workers not on strike at the port to reduce their work output.
As of last Thursday 15 vessels were waiting outside the port.
Due to the unforeseendetention, local ship agents are known to be seriously considering levying new congestion charges.
Ashdod Port Company CEO Shuki Sagis said that: ”Thestrike action had disrupted the port’s activity. And constituted a violation of the agreements the workers committee had signed, and that it was totally unreasonable and out of line”.
