Agrexco Ltd., Israel's largest exporter and distributor of fresh agricultural products, has announced its decision to move its European gateway from the port of Marseille (France) to Savona Vado, Italy.
The announcement was made following an agreement signed by Agrexco with group Vrsar, owner and operator of the reefer terminals of Vado Ligure (Savona), shipping services operating by MAE (Mediterranean Express Agrexco) will return to serve the Italian market from the ports of Haifa and Ashdod.
The move, according to Agrexco, intends to increase distribution efficiency throughout Europe.
In a statement issued by the company it noted that Vado port has highly efficient access to the European road transport network which give the port an advantage in the fresh produce business.
Agrexco, which uses specialized reefer vessels "Caramel Biotop" and "Caramel Ecofresh", both capable of transporting cargo pallets and reefer containers, said that the two reefer vessels will continue their weekly service and run along the same ports schedule: Ashdod - Vadu – Fos Sur Mer – Valencia – Haifa – Ashdod
