The Israel Police's International Crime squad, Lahav 433, and Israel Tax Authority's war on drugs unit had seized 250 kg of cocaine that were hidden in a shipping container loaded with sacks of coffee in the Ashdod Port.
A spokesman for the Tax authority noted that nine sealed cases containing cocaine were discovered during the physical examination among the hundreds of sacks of coffee beans. The cocaine was packed in one-kilogram plastic bags.
The drugs, which are estimated to be worth NIS 100 million, arrived last month on a ship from Colombia.
The two men suspected of importing the container will be brought before the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Letzion for the extension of their remand.
