According to a survey, Israelis drove an average of 16,000 kilometers per year
A survey published last week by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) noted that the average distance driven in Israel reached 16,800 kilometers per car in 2011, 100 kilometers more than the previous year.
The study found that the roads in Israel have become increasingly crowded over the past twenty years. While distances traveled have increased by 172% since 1990 and the number of vehicles has risen 164% over the same period, the road network has only increased by 41% in length and 80% in area.
