China’s biggest bus manufacturer – Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. (Yutong), is about to enter the Israeli market.
The first Yutong tourist coach from China arrived at the Eilat Port last Monday.
It was greeted in a festive ceremony attended by Chinese Ambassador to Israel Gao Yanping, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz and Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak Halevi.
Yutong Buses dwarf other Chinese bus makers by a considerable margin, building 41,169 units in 2010, exporting to 80 countries.
The coach that arrived in Israel is equipped with Western components, like a 400-horsepower Cummins motor, and has passed the European Standard ECE-R66 Rollover Test. The importer will offer a three to five-year warranty.
The Chinese bus will be sold for some €172,000 (about US$224,500) compared to €195,000 (US$254,500) for competitors Mercedes or MAN, some of which are assembled in the Israeli bus factories. The Israeli factories employ some 800 people and have manufactured about 1,000 buses in the past year.
According to Yutong press center, the Yutong Overseas Training Center trained its first Israeli trainees in 2011, for 11-day course from February 28 to March 10. The trainees were the service manger of Chinamotors, Yutong’s distributor, and two owners of Kalderon Workshop and Klinton Workshop respectively. All the three trainees have, according to the press release 12~35 years of service experience in bus industry.
Ambassador Gao said in her speech that the mutual exchanges between Chinese people and Jewish people began over one thousand years ago. Since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Israel, twenty years ago, the pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two countries has been continually deepened and has brought tangible benefits to both sides. The economic and industrial structures of the two countries are complimentary, and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has a tremendous potential.
The bilateral trade volume is expected to exceed US$10 billion this year, an increase of almost 200 times that of twenty years ago.
