Israeli flower growers exported last week over 56 million flowers by air to Europe for Valentine's Day – 14th February. In a press release the Israel Flower Growers Association estimated that the proceeds from the sale would be over NIS 56 million.

The association emphasized that this year's export would be 34% more than last year. The increase was due to a 7% increase in the number of flowers exported and the rise in the Shekel-Euro exchange rate.

Israel Flower Growers Association secretary general Mr. Haim Hadad said that although the two Israeli carriers El Al and CAL- Cargo Air Lines, carried most of the shipments to Europe; the large volume of flowers meant that some shipments had been channeled to other air carriers.
