The E-Seal-enabled information networks are a key step toward implementing Customs 'green lanes' that add extra security, new velocity to global supply chains
Israel Tax Authority reported last week that the joint Israeli – Jordanian e-seals project had successfully been inaugurated.
The first dry van container sealed with a state of theart e-seal crossed the Jordan River Crossing, located at the Northern part of the Great Rift Valley, is an international border that connects Irbid, Jordan and Beit She'an, Israel.
The "electronic seal" is a sophisticated securityand tracking device that reduces the possibility of tampering. The E-Seal-enabled information networks are a key step toward implementing Customs 'green lanes' that add extra security, new velocity to global supply chains and greater efficiency for exporters / importers.
Doron Arbeli, Head of Customs Directorate noted that once the pilot will be completed it will be jointly decided whether to proceed operationally.
If the project is approved and mutually cleared by the two states, the logistic firms involved in the trade will have to purchase the e-seals and use them to replace the present mechanical seals. Arbeli added that e-Seal technology provides secure solutions for containers.
The system greatly improves security management and over all efficiency by tracking inspections; moreover the e-Seal system effectively reduces fraud with a rigorous and rapid verification processes. Arbeli praised the cooperation of the Foreign Ministry, the Israeli embassy in Amman as well as the Jordanian customs authority.
