Total import value was US$ 3.7 billion, increase of 9.3% up compared to the corresponding period last year
The Tax Authority reported last week that during September 2010 12,904 cars were imported compared to 7,913 in the corresponding period last year, a 63% up. The Authority noted, however, that import of cars during September was lower compared to previous month due to the Jewish New Year high holiday period.
During January - September 156,387 cars were imported compared to 126,815 in the corresponding period last year, up 23%.
The Tax Authority also reported that during September it registered a drop in imports of durables. Import of refrigerators registered a drop of 25%, laundry machines down 29%, dryers 21% and dish washers 8.9%. import of DVDs was down 28% and TV was down 2%.
The authority noted that total import value in September was US$ 3.7 billion, increase of 9.3% up compared to the corresponding period last year. Between January - September 2010 total import was up by 19% compared to the corresponding period last year.
