Over twenty airplanes filled with 1,800 tons of flowers will be flown to Europe in the days before the holidays
Avraham Daniel, secretary general of the Flowers Growers Association, told reporters last week that Israeli growers had already geared up for a massive uplift of fresh flowers for the Christmas holiday.
Over twenty airplanes filled with 1,800 tons of flowers will be flown to Europe in the days before the holidays.
Demand for flowers peaks in the days immediately preceding Christian holidays, with prices rising accordingly.
Most of the flowers to be sent to the flowers exchanges in Europe are grown in hothouses in Arava settlements, in the south of the country, where the climatic conditions are reasonable to flower cultivation even in winter.
