Mr. Doron Arbeli, Director General of the Israeli Customs Directorate and Mr. Hatem Yussuf head of the Palestinian General Directorate of Customs and Excise opened last week a seminar, financed by USAID, with the participation of 28 West Bank Palestinian customs officials.
The aim of the seminar is to advance Palestinian Customs know-how on matters related to monitoring import as well as customs investigations.
In a joint press release it was noted that the aim of the seminar was to strengthen the Palestinian customs administration's capacity, enabling it to better monitor and regulate international trade and speed up the customs clearance process at low cost.
Arbeli noted in his opening address that the Israeli Customs Directorate has the responsibility to provide the necessary assistance in order to create a modern customs infrastructure in the Palestinian Authority.
