The Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Friendship Society, established in Israel in 1956, held its traditional business excellence event last night. The event was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Arai Yosuke, President of the Manufacturers Association Ron Tomer, CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eden Bar Tal, Chairman of the Innovation Authority Alon Stopel, and Head of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Economy Roi Fisher. President Isaac Herzog and Israel's Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Gilad Cohen, sent their blessings to the invitees via a recorded video message.
Around 200 senior industry figures, investors, stakeholders, and members of the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce attended the prestigious event, held at the Peres Center for Peace in Jaffa. The attendees enjoyed a unique Japanese food market in collaboration with leading Japanese restaurants and an atmosphere inspired by Japan's cherry blossom season.
At the heart of the evening, seven Israeli companies were awarded the Chamber's Excellence Award for outstanding business performance in Japan, five of which are in the technology sector and one in the food and consumption sector. An award was also given in the field of culture for promoting Japanese culture in Israel.
Among the winning companies were ZUTACORE, which developed a technology that enables efficient and environmentally friendly cooling of processors in data centers; InnerEye - developing technology that combines human intelligence with artificial intelligence; Foretellix - an advanced platform for testing the safety of autonomous driving systems; FORSEA - which developed a unique technology for artificial fish and turtle farming; and Security Upstream - developing advanced cybersecurity solutions in the automotive field and providing technologies that protect vehicles and smart transportation systems.
The veteran tea brand Wissotzky also won an award for its successful and impressive entry into the Japanese market despite the challenges of Japanese consumer preferences and tastes. In the culture award, the Jerusalem Cinematheque won for its long-standing commitment to promoting Japanese culture in Israel.
Adv. Gilad Meirovitz, Chairman of the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce, said: 'We are proud to continue to promote the strong connection between Israel and Japan, based on cooperation in the field of innovation and technological advancement. In recent years, we have witnessed increased business activity between Japanese and Israeli companies, and a growing number of Israeli companies successfully entering the Japanese market.'
Shmuel Schnitzer, Chairman of the Excellence Committee, said: 'The seven companies that won the award are indeed worthy companies, representing a variety of industries - from high-tech to traditional industry. We saw how they managed to break into the Japanese market, even in areas where it is not easy to penetrate, thanks to innovation, perseverance, and ambition. I have no doubt that in the coming years we will see more and more Israeli companies that will succeed in establishing their position in Japan, and we will be happy to award them prizes for their achievements.'
