Mr. Yehiel Asia predicted that manufacturing exports to Latin American countries will increase this year by 3%
Mr. Yehiel Asia, Director General of the Israeli Export and International Cooperation Institute, said last week that Israel's industrial exports, excluding diamonds, to Latin American countries, in the first six months of 2006, reached US$600m, similar to the corresponding period in 2005.
Asia predicted that manufacturing exports to Latin American countries will increase this year by 3%, compared to 2005 and will reach US$1.4 billion.
An analysis which was prepared by the Institute's economic department showed that export to Paraguay increase by 140% compared to the corresponding period in 2005 and reached US$2.4m. Export to Paraguay consisted mainly of telecommunication equipment and chemicals.
Export to Mexico was up by 41%, US$135m consisted mainly of telecommunication equipment and chemicals.
Export to Columbia was up by 13.5%, compared to the corresponding period in 2005 and reached US$49m. Exports consisted mainly of telecommunication equipment and office equipment.
Exports to Chile in the first six months was up 27.5%, US$40m. To Bolivia industrial exports increased by 141% and to Argentina by 5% compared to the corresponding period in 2005, reaching US$33m.
Export to Brazil was down by 16% compared to the corresponding period in 2005, US$12m and exports to Venezuela was down by 38% to US$12m.
