The IEEE's efforts to encourage the worldwide use of its standards by working with national standards bodies
IEEE Standards Association's (IEEE-SA) efforts to encourage the worldwide use of its standards by working with national standards bodies are reaping rewards. Last week the Israeli Standard Institute signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the IEEE-SA. The MoU was signed in Israel by Ms.Karen Bartleson President IEEE Standards Association and Mr. Danny Goldstein, CEO of the Israeli Standards Institute.
IEEE, pronounced "Eye-triple-E," stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The IEEE Standards Association, a globally recognized standards-setting body within IEEE, develops consensus standards through an open process that engages industry and brings together a broad stakeholder community. IEEE standards set specifications and best practices based on current scientific and technological knowledge. The IEEE-SA has a portfolio of over 900 active standards and more than 500 standards under development.
Within the framework of the MoU the Israel's Standard institute agree to share knowledge of its standards development activities with the IEEE Standards Association, and so avoid technical duplication. Konstantinos Karachalios IEEE-Standard Association's director general noted that the newly signed MoU will assist the improvement of Israeli standards and will further develop cooperation and information sharing between the two bodies.
