Easing of Israel’s Gaza blockade enables flower farmers to export to Europe

Flower farmers in the Gaza Strip exported last Thursday a shipment of 30,000 roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums through an Israeli border crossing in a rare easing of the Gaza blockade that will see continued flower exports until the season ends in May of next year.
 
The flower shipment marks the first time since the 2006-07 season that Gaza’s flower growers, on a request brought by theNetherlands to Israel’s Defense Ministry, export their entire harvest to European markets.
