Following the government announcement that summer time would end on September 22ed, the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce ( FICC ) issued a statement emphasizing the importance of "summer time" to the economy.
Summer time began this year on April 7 and lasted for 166 calendar days, of which 130 days were "working days".
Analysis made by IFCC's economic department, indicated a general "summer time economic benefit " saving of some NIS 60 millions to the economy.
"Summer time" is captured by the public as a period in which more time is available for family activities, increase in sales, increase in productivity and lower production costs.
The IFCC analysis was based on statistical data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics which show that business sector works 55 million hours per week. Income per week is estimated to be NIS 17 billions.
Each additional hour brought in income equivalent to NIS 350,000.
