The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that seasonally adjusted figures of Israel’s unemployment rate indicated sharp fall during the third quarter of 2006 to 8.3%.
The unemployment rate, according to the CBS, was 8.7% in the second quarter and 8.9% in the first quarter. The unemployment level is the lowest rate in 12 years.
The CBS noted that the number of unemployed fell by 13,400 during the third quarter of 2006 to 234,700. (119,000 men and 135,700 women.)
Men unemployment rate fell to 7.9% in the third quarter from 8.3% in the second quarter, and the unemployment rate for women fell to 8.8% from 9.5%.
The CBS also noted that Israel’s civilian labor force in the third quarter totaled 2.81 million, of whom 2.58 million were working.
