In a press release, Business Data Israel (BDI) said last week that Israel had the second lowest inflation rate among industrialized countries. The BDI pointed out, however, that Israel had the second highest rate of unemployment.
BDI's findings showed that at 10.1%, Israel's unemployment rate was 45% above the average of 6.94% in most industrialized countries. Among the industrialized countries in the sample.Germany was the only industrialized country that had a higher unemployment rate than Israel.
According to the BDI, the analysis was based on figures from the countries' various statistics offices. The BDI figures stated that Israel's inflation rate was 1.2%, compared with an average of 2.08% in the sample in which several industrialized countries participated.
Israel's inflation rate, according to the BDI was 57% below the average inflation rate in the main industrialized countries.
Only Japan had reached lower inflation rate of 0.8%. The US, however, was ranked in the ninth and last place, with 3.3% inflation rate. BDI's analysis showed that employment growth rate in Israel was 0.9%, compared with 2.6% in Australia, 1.4% in Canada, and 1.1% in the US. Japan had, according to the findings, the lowest inflation rate among the countries compared in the study. It also had the lowest unemployment rate - 4.5%.
