Labor dispute at Airports Authority may disrupt flights

The workers committee had an emergency meeting with the Histadrut in order to prevent the proposed lay-offs, and to decide on the labor actions to be taken
 
Following the announcement made last week by the Israel Airports Authority that it planned to dismiss 120 temporary employees (cleaners, baggage handlers and transport workers) the workers committee replied that it would wage an all out war if the decision is carried out.
 
Late last week, the workers committee had an emergency meeting with the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor) in order to prevent the proposed lay-offs, and to decide on the labor actions to be taken.
 
It is understood that among the industrial actions considered were serious disruptions at Ben Gurion International Airport.
 
Workers committee threatened last week that should the Airports Authority decided to go ahead and dismiss the temporary workers, the work at the airport would grind to a halt. It is understood that all 500 temporary employees in all departments will abandon their work stations.
