Beginning March 2010, El Al will operate a daily flight to Istanbul via a Turkish airline
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. announced last week the renewal of flights to Turkey.
El Al cancelled its daily flight to Istanbul last year after the Israeli security authorities imposed total ban on the Israeli carriers from making daytime flights to Istanbul.
Beginning March 2010, El Al will operate a daily flight to Istanbul via a Turkish airline, AtlasJet, whose aircraft will be converted for Israeli passenger service. Atlasjet is a low-fare Turkish airline owned by two large Turkish tour operators, Etstur and ײger Tours.
The aircraft will have business class service, and passengers will be eligible for El Al frequent flier miles. Flights will be made with an El Al code-share.
AtlasJet operates a mixed fleet of 16 aircraft including: 2 Boeing 757’s, 9 x Airbus A320’s, 2 x Airbus 319’s and 3 x CRJ 900. with the Northern part of Cyprus.
