The new 235 seats plane had been leased for a period of 5 years and will provide the necessary capacity for the business traveler in El Al's long routes
Haim Romano, El Al's CEO, issued last week a press release informing that El AL would add an additional long range Boeing 767-300 to its passenger fleet as from the second half of November.
Romano said that "The lease of the 767- 300s is in accordance with El Al's business strategy to operate wide-body long-range aircraft, in order to provide passengers the best service and product quality".
Romano added that the new aircraft which was leased from International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) is part of the company's continued application of "EL AL 2010" Strategic Plan which was launched in September last year.
The main objectives of the plan include a significant improvement in the commercial results of the company by 2010. The plan includes a list of improvements in the passengers' flight experience, fostering operational excellence, innovation and commercial initiative, fleet renewal and improvements in Cargo and Maintenance as well as nurturing human resources.
Romano noted that the new 235 seats plane had been leased for a period of 5 years and will provide the necessary capacity for the business traveler in El Al's long routes. Last December the Boeing Company and El Al Airlines signed an agreement for the purchase of two Boeing 777-200ER (Extended Range) jetliners. The airplanes, together valued at $362 million at list prices, are scheduled for delivery in 2007. The new 777-200ERs will help El Al expand service to meet growing demand for air travel in the Israeli market.
