After nearly two weeks of Israel's airspace closure, which put many companies in the Israeli market in a real crisis, DHL Express Israel announced that this morning two air freight flights landed on behalf of the company with cargoes weighing tens of tons in import.
PORT2PORT has learned that the company intends to operate an 'air freight train' of cargo planes for the movement of cargoes in import and export during the upcoming weekend. The company will operate Airbus 300, Airbus 330, and Boeing 757 aircraft that will move hundreds of tons of cargo into and out of the country for the benefit of Israeli importers and exporters. The company's cargo flights operate between Ben Gurion Airport and Leipzig, Germany - the main hub of DHL Express in Europe, and from there connecting flights to the rest of the world's destinations.
Sources at Ben Gurion Airport updated PORT2PORT that the cargo flights that arrived today at Ben Gurion Airport will be operated by senior executives in the transport company - the first flight that landed was piloted by Mr. Christoph Hoffman, CEO of DHL Airlines UK, and the second flight that landed will be operated by the network's insurance manager, in order to convey a message to the entire network that arrival in Israel is safe.
