Arkia - Israeli Airlines Ltd ( IATA / ICAO Code IZ / AIZ ) will begin scheduled flights to Barcelona in early July 2008.
In a press release published by the airline last week the airline noted it will make three weekly flights to Barcelona with its Boeing 757-300 aircraft.
The announcement was made three weeks after Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz announced that he had decided to grant designated carrier status for several European routes to three Israeli airlines.
Arkia - Israeli Airlines Ltd said that a round-trip ticket to Barcelona would cost $499.
The Barcelona route is currently served by El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. under a code-sharing agreement with Iberia SA.
