Open Sky Ltd, Alitalia's exclusive General Sales Agent (GSA) in Israel said last week that Alitalia had taken a decision to resume cargo operation in Israel. The resumption of cargo operation was made possible following an approval given by a labor court to resume cargo flights.
Alitalia operates three daily flights from Israel to Italy. Alitalia Cargo's network covers well over 100 destinations world-wide.
The focal point of the company's system is the Milan Malpensa hub, which together with the Rome Fiumicino sub-hub, ensures an efficient transit service of airfreight.
Mr. Benny Weinstein, Open Sky deputy director general, noted in an interview with port2port that court ruling had been given earlier and the company had made the necessary steps to allow cargo booking from Israel to Italy.
Open Sky is a long established GSA representing over 20 airlines in Israel.
