Ronen Shpira, the Deputy CEO of Cargo at El Al, announced today his resignation from the position. Shpira, who has served as the company's Deputy CEO of Cargo for the past 12 years, announced that he will end his role in May 2026 and embark on a new path.

"After 12 years in my role as Deputy CEO of El Al's cargo, I decided to embark on a new path. I had the privilege of leading the cargo sector at El Al during years of growth, change, and renewal, and to work closely with our customers, who were and remain true partners in the journey. Thanks to them, we managed to fill the capacity of the Dreamliners, develop unique logistical solutions, and continue the cargo aircraft activity even after the departure of the legendary 747s", Shpira wrote in a message distributed to the company's customers.

Shpira also referred to the challenging Corona period and wrote to customers: "We were privileged - together with you - to make a significant contribution to the continuation of El Al's activity. It was a challenging period, but also exciting, in which the recruitment, cooperation, and mutual trust were a central anchor in success".

In his letter to customers, Shpira stated that "I leave with a deep sense of pride in what we have achieved together, and with full faith in the wonderful team that continues to lead the sector - with energy, professionalism, and plans for the future, including the absorption of a new 777 cargo aircraft". Shpira further noted in his letter that "for me, this was much more than a job - it was a mission".

It should be noted that El Al's CEO, Dina Ben Tal Gannesia, is expected to leave her position at the end of the year - a departure that caused the El Al workers' committee to appeal to her to dissuade her from the decision. El Al has not yet announced who will replace Ben Tal Gannesia in the role.
