El Al announced today that the company has signed an agreement with the government to extend the state's participation in aviation security expenses for the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2031, with the possibility of extension until the end of 2034, subject to government decision.
The agreement outlines a gradual reduction of the state's participation in security expenses - starting from 95% in 2025, 94% in 2026, and a gradual decrease to 92.5% from 2029 onwards.
In parallel, the company is in advanced negotiations with the state regarding the reduction of the company's obligations set in additional agreements from 2021-2022. This agreement ensures the continuation of the aviation security system and the provision of security services to all Israeli airlines in accordance with relevant security guidelines.
A statement from El Al said: "We see great importance in arranging the security issue for the long term, both for the company and for the entire Israeli aviation system. The gradual decrease in the state's participation is expected to progress in parallel with the efficiency of the security system. The security and safety of passengers have always been and will remain our top priority."
