Air freight: share of Israeli airlines' cargo market declines

The figures indicate that El Al's share of the air freight market dropped from 46.3% in 2005 to 44.6% in 2006. CAL's share of the air freight market dropped from 20.1% in 2005 to 18.5%
 
According to figures presented last week to the director general of the Transportation Ministry, Gideon Siterman, both Israeli cargo airlines El Al and CAL experienced decline of their share of air cargo shipments to and from Israel.
 
The report show that the two companies' share of the air freight market to and from Israel was 63.1% of all air freight.
 
The figures indicate that El Al's share of the air freight market dropped from 46.3% in 2005 to 44.6% in 2006. CAL's share of the air freight market dropped from 20.1% in 2005 to 18.5% in 2006.
 
The report also noted that in 2006 the total freight that moved through Ben-Gurion Airport was 319,000 tons, a 4% increase over the 308,000 tons of freight moved in 2005. 65% of the air freight moving through the airport was flown on board pure freighters while the balance was flown on board regular passenger airlines.
