A unique task force recently completed its work at the cargo terminals in the security sector. The process involved significant changes and upgrades, which were implemented as part of the response to new threats and in compliance with international regulation, expressed through the requirements of various regulators around the world.

As part of this process, detection dogs were integrated into the cargo terminals at Ben Gurion Airport. The dogs will assist in checking export shipments but will also be incorporated into the physical security of the terminal and a variety of other tasks. This is an inspection tool that has been adapted for aviation in Israel, uniquely in terms of explosive detection.

Ilan Biton, the consultant accompanying the process on behalf of the guiding bodies in the country, states: 'This is a new capability that changes the rules of the game. In terms of security capabilities, it adds new dimensions of protection, detection, and prevention, but it also has significant added value for the industry. This is a fast, effective, and efficient tool that allows shortening the handling times of some of the export shipments that are currently delayed. It is important to note that changes in the security field are never easy to implement, but we have been careful to make the changes together with the industry, with great attentiveness and while conducting meticulous feasibility checks. The process has proven itself above and beyond, and now we are pleased to add an improvement message.'
