According to data that wes presented to Director Genral at the Transportation Mininstry there was a 4% increase in Cargo mobement in Ben Gurion Airport during 2006.
According to Israel Airport Authority report for internatiol cargo movemevoment in Ben Gurion for January-December 2006 period, the main factors for growth, which occurred inspite of price increase in jet fuel and in transport fees, are the significant growth in Israel’s international trade and growth in the combined cargo capacity of aviation companies.
According to data during 2006, 319,000 ton of cargo were handled in Ben Gurion, in camaparision to 305,000 tons during 2005.
According to this report, El-AL and C.A.L combined part was down to 63.7% from the general cargo traffic (El-AL’s share was down to 44.6% compared to 46.3% in 2005, C.A.L’s share was down to 18.5% compared to 20.1% in 2005) and cargoes share that was carried by foreign companies was totaled in 0.6% - in comparison to 0.3% in 2005.
A significant growth in total cargo and passengers flights has led to total cargo supply and to an increase of 14% in total cargo capacity.
